Volley South Junior Volleyball Information:

Volley South would like to welcome you all back for our Junior Volleyball season. Information for the Junior Programme will be located here or on our Facebook page as and when information is available to us, and in e-newsletters.

There has been a change to advertised tournaments and structure for the Volley South representative season.

  • Please see the names below for each age group and squad training.
  • You must trial and be selected in April/May 2022 to be a part of this program
  • Program- June 2022- June 2023, this is a 12-month development representative program as laid out below with dates and commitment.
  • We have a build-up of two tournaments, and possibly some interchanges regionally, and local competitions, then the pinnacle is 2023, and these rep players carry through.
  • We name squads, then move into A & B teams. A’s go to IPC and International academy tournaments, everyone attends the lower South Island tournament
  • Talent ID for NZ and South Island teams

Tournament 1

Lower South Island Festival

 17-18 September 2022 - Lower South Island tournament against Otago/ Aoraki v South is now a two-day tournament to be held in Invercargill.

Train June-Sept

  1. No cost for entry to all players, as Volley South has funding for the courts
  2. Training costs – are only for courts for training purposes that charge us:
    1. IE Wanaka u15 free
    2. . Invercargill stadium or Queenstown event centre 1.5-hour court is $55.50 per hour / court/ team x 10 weeks of training = $55.50 per player for courts plus a $14.50 fee for usage of equipment/ uniforms. $70.00
  3. Representative association fee is $50.00
  4. If required
    1. hoodie (same as 2021) $41.50
    2. tee shirt (same as 2021) $18.50
  5. Coaches and parent help are volunteers- no charge
  6. Wanaka u15 team & Queenstown – travel to Invercargill and accommodation and food will be worked out with the teams​​​​​​​

Tournament 2

Jan 2023, International volleyball academy, Hawkes Bay

– closed invite-only tournament –u17 and u19 A teams only. Play against Australian, Philippines, and Hawkes Bay and South teams

Train Sept-Jan

  1. Training costs – are only for courts for training purposes that charge us:

What we are building for - Volleyball NZ, IPC, Queens birthday weekend 3-7 June 2023, Wellington

The best of the best in each grade, only one team per grade per gender.

Represent your entire region as the one and only team for each grade


Regional and National pathway


Volleyball NZ IPC 

Volleyball New Zealand is made up of 15 regional associations.

The New Zealand Provincial Volleyball Championships is an opportunity for these associations to fight it out across 4 age groups, Under 17, Under 19, Under 21 and Open.

The New Zealand Provincial Volleyball Championships is contested annually on the 3 days of Queen's Birthday weekend.

All four age groups in 2023, the 2022 rep program will build to this


  • Playing dates: 4 - 6 June 2022
  • Travel dates 3-7th June 2022
  • Team Signoff: 3 June Friday 6 pm
  • 4-day tour costs to come & fundraising 
  • Technical meeting: 3 June Friday 7 pm Room above Wishbone
  •  Venue:  ASB Sports Centre, Kilbirnie, Wellington


Regions must Register by 5 April - 6 May Registration must be done by the Regional Association

Representative Season

We are sorry for the changes but it has come down to coaches injured, shift changes and courts.

This has been emailed today and updated on the website.

To remove yourself from emails please login through your child sporty and remove, we add all parents into email communications that the player registered at the time. We have had two players pull out. We haven't updated this database yet it is scheduled to be sorted post the third training in one hit.


Rep training Invoices will be out after the weekend:

No cost for tournament entry to all players, as Volley South has funding for the courts and volunteer staff to run the tournament


Training costs – are only for courts for training purposes that charge us:

  • Wanaka u15 free as the school has donated the gym
  • Queenstown event centre one time two hour training, and one free hit-out hour - 9 sessions, equipment, playing uniforms to use =$70 per player
  • Invercargill Sunday 2-hour session only - 9 sessions, equipment, playing uniforms to use =$70 per player
  • Invercargill Sunday 3-hour session and Wednesday 2-hour session -18 sessions, equipment, playing uniforms to use =$140 per player
  • The representative association fee is $50.00
  • Wednesday night competition -Invercargill $30 each (subsidised),

We won't enter you into the Wednesday competition as Wakatipu school has entered two teams that have most of you in those teams.

We will get the coach to set up a Facebook group chat for all four teams


Sundays

Training will only be Sundays 4-6 pm @Queenstown Event Centre -Please inform us if you can not come to training.
