Since 1987, Volley South has been the official Regional Association & Club for Southland & Queenstown Lakes, affiliated with Volleyball New Zealand. We provide pathways for all ages and skill levels, offering competitions, tournaments, representative opportunities, training, and development.

Since Term 1, Volley South has dedicated significant time and effort to training our representative players, helping them develop their skills and compete at regional and national events. We have also worked closely with our ethnic community teams, running dedicated trainings and events to upskill players and make volleyball accessible for everyone.

This year, we are incredibly proud of all our school-aged representative players who competed in the Lower South Island Championships against Otago and Aoraki. Many have also been selected to represent our region at the Volleyball New Zealand Interprovincial Championships during King’s Birthday weekend, where they will face some of the best teams in the country.

We are confident that all this extra volleyball — from rep trainings to community events — will help strengthen our school teams and lift the overall level of volleyball in our region.

In addition to our representative programme, we have completed one round of group trainings and Winter League matches, with the next round starting in July. This is a fantastic opportunity, especially for Year 9 and 10 players, to get extra training and match experience before school volleyball begins. Players receive one hour of training plus a 45-minute game each week for six weeks.

Volley South’s role is to develop players from beginner to competitive level and to support schools by providing pathways, resources, and practical help.
