Kia ora players, parents and whānau,
We have now finalised our arrangements for this weekend’s Labour Weekend Selection Tournament, including our Friday night camp and Saturday's tournament.
There have been a few changes to team arrangements, so please read the following information carefully.
U15 Girls and Boys – IPC December 2026
All U15 IPC players will attend Friday night's camp and play in their respective U15 IPC teams at the tournament on Saturday.
This weekend is an important opportunity for our U15 teams to train, play and continue preparing together for the December 2026 IPC tournament.
We have also added two trial players to the U15 programme, who will be assessed for potential selection for December 2026 and/or June 2027.
U17/U19 Girls and Boys – IPC June 2027
We encountered a small challenge when a school team entered the tournament after us, affecting our team numbers. We also identified several players through our talent identification programme who had not yet submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI).
To ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate, we have decided to:
Combine our U17 and U19 girls into one girls team.
Combine our U17 and U19 boys into one boys team.
Keep our U15 girls and boys playing in their existing IPC teams.
All players outside the U15 IPC teams will play in the combined U17/U19 teams.
This remains a selection tournament for IPC Wellington in June 2027. Players will continue to be assessed throughout the weekend.
You should have received an invoice for $40 per player, covering the tournament entry fee we are required to pay to the organisers.
If you have not yet paid, please do so as soon as possible.
Payment details:
Account: Volley South (as shown on your invoice)
Amount: $40 per player
Reference: Player's full name
All U15 IPC players are expected to attend camp. Players travelling from out of town in the U17/U19 groups are also welcome to stay overnight.
Location: Otepuni Community Hub, 40 Forth Street, Invercargill
Arrival: Friday, 7:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Accommodation: Free
Breakfast: $5 per person, payable to Volley South using the same payment details.
We will be having a shared potluck dinner, so please bring something to contribute.
What to bring for camp:
Single stretcher, airbed or mattress
Sleeping bag, blankets, pillow and bedding
Toiletries, overnight clothing and personal items
Something to share for our potluck dinner
All players must bring:
A fully packed lunch, snacks and plenty of water
Volleyball gear and appropriate footwear
A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a team-first approach
Remember, representative selection is about more than what happens on the court.
Throughout the weekend, we will be looking at players' on-court performance as well as their off-court behaviour, including:
Attitude, respect and sportsmanship
Communication and teamwork
Willingness to learn and accept coaching
Commitment and effort
How players support their teammates and represent Volley South
These qualities are just as important as playing ability when selecting athletes to represent Volley South at IPC Wellington in June 2027.
We are keeping our Expressions of Interest open until 1 November 2026, allowing additional players identified through our talent identification programme to register.
If you notice a player missing from our team lists, please reach out to them and encourage them to submit an EOI if they are still interested.
If you have already submitted an EOI, you do not need to complete another one.

This weekend is about bringing our players together, developing our existing U15 IPC teams, identifying new talent and starting the selection process for our June 2027 representative programme.
We appreciate everyone's flexibility as we have worked through the team changes and tournament entries.
Most importantly, we want our players to enjoy the weekend, support one another and show us what they can bring to Volley South, both on and off the court.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday evening and Saturday!

Volley South is beginning preparations for our 2027 Inter Provincial Championships (IPC) Representative Programme, with IPC being held in Wellington over King’s Birthday Weekend 2027.
We are seeking players interested in being considered for:
U17 Girls | U17 Boys | U19 Girls | U19 Boys: EOIs close Friday 25 September 2026.
Players progressing through the selection process will be required to attend the Volley South selection camp over Labour Weekend.
An important part of this weekend will be our Labour Weekend Indoor KST Tournament on Saturday. All players seeking final selection must be available to play in the Saturday tournament.
The camp and tournament will give our coaching teams the opportunity to assess players in both training and competitive match environments before final squad selections are made.
Players selected for our 2027 IPC squads will then compete in an early squad warm-up tournament:
Saturday 14 November 2026
Southland Girls’ High
There will be more in 2027.
This will give our selected teams an opportunity to play together in a competitive environment before the Christmas break and continue building towards IPC 2027.
For our Invercargill-based programme, squad training will initially take place on Saturday afternoons. As we move closer to IPC, an additional weekly training session will be introduced on either a Tuesday or Thursday evening, depending on court availability.
Full training schedules and expectations will be communicated to selected athletes and their families.
Submitting an EOI does not guarantee selection. It confirms that you would like to participate in the selection process for the 2027 Volley South IPC Representative Programme. Players and families should consider the selection, tournament and training commitments before submitting an EOI.
