Exciting News! I’ve been selected to represent Volley South at the Southern Zone Development Tournament in Christchurch on 2–3 August!

This is a huge opportunity to help our team qualify for entry into the Volleyball NZ Club Nationals in Hamilton this October.

To make this happen, I need to raise $400.

🏐 Southern Zone Development Tournament – Christchurch Trip Details

We’re excited to confirm the details for our upcoming trip to Christchurch for the Southern Zone Development Tournament on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd August.

Please read the full information below carefully. It includes travel arrangements, costs, what to bring, meals, and key dates for commitment and payment.

🚌 Trip Overview

Departure: Friday 1st August, 1:00pm (half-day off school required)
Return: Sunday 3rd August, late evening
Location: Christchurch (venue TBC)
Tournament Dates: Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd August

🚍 Travel Plans

We’ve booked a chartered bus and professional driver to transport all players from Invercargill to Christchurch and back. The bus will also shuttle players between accommodation and the venue each day.

➡️ Players from outside Invercargill (e.g. Queenstown) will need to carpool to Milton or Invercargill to join the bus.

❗Alternative Considered: Minivan Option

We explored using multiple minivans, departing Friday and returning Monday morning. However, due to increased complexity, safety concerns, fatigue risks, and greater time off school, the chartered bus option was chosen as the safest, simplest, and most efficient.

🍽 Meals

Breakfast (Sat & Sun): Please send breakfast food (no shops nearby).
Lunch (Sat & Sun): Provided – cold chicken & rice, banana, muesli bar, chocolate milk.
Saturday Dinner: All-you-can-eat buffet in Christchurch.
Sunday Dinner: Pizza on the way home.
Courtside Snacks: Mandarins provided.

🧳 What to Bring

Volleyball uniform & gear (shoes, knee pads, water bottle)
Sleeping bag, pillow, towel, toiletries
Comfortable clothes for travel/downtime
Any personal medication
Packed lunch for Friday travel (no stops planned)
Breakfast food for Sat & Sun
Container of home baking to share (e.g. muffins, cookies)
Bag of lollies for courtside snacks

Please do not send money in place of food – there will be no access to shops.
