Important Dates:

Registrations Open: 1 July 2024

Registrations Close: 2 September 2024

Overview Release: 3 September 2024

Consultation and Feedback Deadline: 5 September 2024

Final Draw Release: 6 September 2024- week 1 starts 11 September

Due to venue constraints, entries are capped at 75 teams.

Coaching Requirement: Each team must have a registered coach or person in charge. Please ensure the actual person is listed, not just the sports coordinator, to facilitate direct communication.

Draw requests:  Due to a large volume of our entries being travel teams, we prioritise their draw requests to accommodate their needs. Travel teams will play between 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM and will travel for games 3 out of 6 times, often playing 2-3 games in one visit.

Additionally, because of the significant number of senior student coaches, we will strive to schedule Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 social teams at the 4:00 PM, 4:45 PM, and 5:00 PM time slots. However, please note that this may not always be possible due to scheduling constraints.

Junior Format: The competitive teams and championships for junior players will be based on Volleyball New Zealand (VNZ) rules for South Island Juniors.

Key Dates to Remember in 2024:

Volleyball NZ will be down and will be running a coaching course - we highly recommend school and student coaches to sign up for this amazing course being hosted locally in the deep South. 

Date: 20 and 21st July at SGHS

Fee: $49.95 + GST - discounted to $39.95 

Time: 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm on both days

VNZ Referee and Scoring Clinic: Highly recommended for all competitive teams

Winter tournament week 2- 6 September

Week 1: Wednesday, 11 September 2024 - please advise which of your entries can not start week one so that they will be put in for a double game later in the round-robin weeks. 

Week 2: Wednesday, 18 September 2024 (Travel teams in)

Tournament for Rep Players: 19-25 September 2024

Week 3: Wednesday, 25 September 2024

School Holidays

Tournament for Senior Players (VNZ Club Nationals): 1-6 October 2024

Week 4: Wednesday, 16 October 2024

Volley South Junior Championships:

Date: Sunday, 20 October 2024

Time: 8am - Finish (depending on entries, could be as late as 7pm, travel teams start at 10:30am)

Week 5: Wednesday, 23 October 2024 (Travel teams in)

Week 6: Wednesday, 30 October 2024 (Finals, travel teams in)

Note: Exams start and seniors finish school from 1 November onwards.
